Not all headphones are alike of built for the same
purpose. Headphones generally fall into two categories, "studio reference
headphones, and & "listening or playback headphones". The two headphones however
look very similar, often sound very different. Listening headphones usually add
a little bass, add a little treble and colorize and enhance the sound for a big
fat tone. That is great when listening to a finished product, but not so good
when creating a new recording or mixing. When mixing you want to hear exactly
what the sound is, and nothing more so that you can mix and alter it.
If you are hearing an altered version of the
actual sound, it makes getting a good mix almost impossible. Behringer
headphones are offered in both types. Behringer offers their HPM3000 & HPM5000
for studio use, and the others are for listening applications. The HPX line,
labeled Behringer DJ Headphones, are for listening and playback available in
both an open back (allows you to hear ambient sounds around you) and a closed
back headphones for isolation from any outside sounds. Whether you are a DJ,
live sound engineer, home recording, or just listing to your favorite CD,
Behringer has a headphone that's right for you at very affordable prices.
