If the convenience of a
self-powered subwoofer is preferred, JBL offers the JRX118SP, which incorporates
a specially designed amplifier with 500 watts peak and 300 watts continuous
power output into the same driver as the non-powered version. It offers dual
inputs with balanced XLR connectors, a built-in stereo crossover network and
peak limiter to protect the amplifier and speaker from clipping.
A sophisticated, advanced network topology design is utilized in JRX100 models
to ensure quality performance. To minimize distortion due to coil saturation,
heavy gauge wire is used for inductors and SonicGuard™ high-frequency driver
protection guards against damage caused by inadvertent overpowering of the
system. All full-range models feature Neutrik® Speakon® and ¼" input connectors.
All JRX100 series models are constructed of carpet-covered, ¾" MDF - a material
that is structurally and acoustically superior to the particleboard that is used
by many competitive products. To ensure durability, JBL constructs these
enclosures with advanced adhesives and closely mechanically spaced fasteners,
while competitive systems typically rely on glue. Non-resonant, all metal
handles are used and an 18 gauge, full metal grille protects the drivers. All
JRX100 models have passed the same 100-hour, full rated-power torture test that
JBL high-end touring systems must survive.
