Product Detail

Marshall tone in a 5-watt combo? With the Class5, that's exactly what you get! This all-tube combo uses a streamlined feature set to give you a Bluesbreaker-style aesthetic with Plexi-style control setup. The preamp has a pair of ECC83 tubes for preamp distortion. The power section of the Class5 uses a single EL84, which gives you classic Class A vibe. This beauty is packed with the tone of a big stack, and is extremely responsive to adjustments to the guitar's volume and tone controls. Big sound, small package — Marshall's Class5.

Created in the legendary "Bluesbreaker" style, the Class5 gets back to basics with a top-loaded Plexi-esque panel comprising Volume, Treble, Middle, and Bass. This simple feature set is the Class5's secret weapon, as what you get in return is authentic Class A tone, regarded by many as the purest amplifier design, rich in smooth second-harmonic distortion. The all-tube signal path offers a wealth of untainted analog tones at your fingertips. Sparkling cleans, full-bodied crunch, and glorious lead tones are literally just a dial turn away. With the Class5 also responding extremely well to on-the-fly guitar volume and tone control adjustments, it's a truly dynamic playing experience.

All this great tone is delivered through the specially designed G10F-15 speaker. Developed in conjunction with Celestion, this 10" "tone cone" equips the Class5 with fantastic bottom-end clout for an amp of its stature, yet retains tonal clarity and definition. The rear panel offers both headphones and 16ohm extension cabinet output sockets — perfect for either fully-cranked silent practice or driving a mighty 4x12 1960 speaker cabinet.

Manufactured at Marshall HQ in the heart of the UK, every Class5 combo has been built by some of the most experienced hands in the business. Specially selected components, solid construction, and precision craftsmanship affords the Class5 the durability and reliability you would expect of a Marshall product. Ideal for studio, rehearsal, or a small gig, the Class5 is all-valve Marshall tone at its best — pure, audacious, and inspiring.

Classic sounds without vintage price tag August, 2010
Reviewer: Tony From MT USA
I bought the Marshall Class 5 combo hoping to recreate the sounds I used to get from my 60's Gretsch class A combo. That amp is long gone but I remember it and its' cool tones well. With the Gretsch I was able to dial in my tone with the volume control on my guitar to a great extent. Also I got very nice chimey single coil tones that were sparkley clean along with cool driven humbucker sounds that were very Plexi-like when I plugged in my Les Paul. Glorious lead sounds. Happily, the new Marshall has a very similar feel and sound. It does exactly what I had hoped for and I'm totally happy with it. Anyone who is after that old class A vibe will dig this amp. Go buy one and enjoy.
Tony
