Product Detail

The signal flex line transformers are made for adapting a XLR low impedance (500 Ohms) signal to a 1/4" phono type high impedance (10K Ohms). There is no right way to do it except to match up the impedance correctly. Many people ask for xlr to 1/4" cables and state they have seen them before or even have them. They do exist, but for a different reason. They are made for less expensive Hi Z microphones for the simple fact that they need to use a connector that locks into place. there is not 1/4" connector that locks. Therefor, the 3 pin XLR connector is used, however, they only use two of the pins and wires. By using one of these cables like an adapter, you are running your neutral through the gound wire which can result in hums and bizzes, not to mention the fact that the signal is so far out of balance. If you want to do it right, you need an impedance matching transformer. Why let the cost of an adapter ruin your sound. This model (unlike the SF8021) features a 6 inch cable between the transformer and 1/4" connnector to take the strain off the input jack you are plugging into. A little more but much cheaper than breaking your input jack or ruining your performance."

I have an Acoustasonic amp from Fender that I use for my gigs in the summer and I just recently bought a second microphone too... So I run my vocal mic through the mic input of the amp and all I'm left with on there is 1/4" inputs. I wanted to mic my guitar (rather than buy an acoustic electric) so I figured I might be able to just simply convert a second mic from XLR to 1/4" via the Signal Flex Line Transformer. I called this website and the gentleman I talked to reffered this one to me rather than the one without a cable. He said it just gives it more room to move around and less room to snap in half. Needless to say, I took his advice and it works great for me!
